Chapters of Growth
The Sunshine of Cupertino
I was born in sunny Cupertino, California. My memory holds a typical bustling immigrant household where my parents were always away building their careers. The person who spent the most time with me was my grandfather. Under his quiet influence and companionship, I spent my early childhood. It was also there that he quietly planted his life’s core tenets — “discipline and restraint” — deep into my worldview.

A Century-spanning Bond
Thanks to the profound lifelong friendship between my grandfather and the world-renowned mathematician Mr. Shiing-Shen Chern, I was introduced to quantitative pioneer James Simons during my childhood. This pinnacle level of trust within the elite Chinese intellectual circle not only granted me an exceptional starting point in the industry, but those early memories of mathematical logic also formed my very first connection with this ancient yet cutting-edge science.
Harker · Exeter · Harvard
The Harker School
| Private Day Middle School | 2002 – 2005
Cross-cultural Vision:
Completed my early enlightenment in algorithms and logic within Silicon
Valley’s top tech and quantitative environment.
Phillips Exeter
Academy | Boarding High School | 2005 – 2008
Analytical Rigor: Deeply
immersed in Exeter’s iconic Harkness Table methodology. Through three
years of intensive mathematical and philosophical seminars, I broke away
from passive problem-solving, cultivating a clear, restrained style of
academic deconstruction.
Core Capabilities: Established a strong
mechanism for independent thinking, multi-dimensional logical deduction, and
an intuition for swiftly capturing the essence within complex
information.
Harvard University | Undergraduate | 2008 –
2012
Major Track: Mathematical Statistics and Economics. Completed
rigorous training in pure statistics and non-linear data modeling during my
undergraduate years.
Academic Style: Rather than blindly pursuing
competition titles, I earned high praise from professors for my
exceptionally solid, mature academic performance and foundational logic.
Every Step along the Charles River
As the early 21st century arrived, my grandfather passed away with his gentle guidance. I entered Harvard University, stepping into a brand-new chapter of my own. It was my first true step toward independence. Day and night along the Charles River, carrying a unique memory of the past, I completed rigorous training in pure statistics and data modeling, establishing a clear and rational academic mindset.
Practice in the Temple
Upon graduating from college, through the trust and recommendation of Mr. James Simons, I entered the sanctuary of quantitative trading on Wall Street — the Medallion Fund — where I met Peter Brown. In the eye of this high-frequency trading storm, I brought the principles of “discipline, restraint, and long-termism” taught to me since childhood to their highest expression, leading interpretability reviews for black-box strategies and learning to anchor stability amidst the unknown.
Continuation in the Bloodline
Today, I have left the Medallion Fund to fully take over our family enterprise, strategically focusing on controlling investments and structural risk control in U.S. domestic asset-intensive businesses. Although the landscape has shifted from high-frequency algorithmic code to heavy-asset industrial layouts, the experience, discipline, and restraint ingrained in my core still flow through my veins. In my own way, I continue to write our family’s story of long-termism across macro cycles.
Purity and Echoes
Facing the future, I no longer seek outward validation or specific labels. Stripping away complex credentials, I hope to dedicate the coming years to a pure exploration of the world — to venture deeper into the heart of art, to quietly feel the intersection and evolution of different civilizations across the river of time, and to find a broader space for reflection in realms untouched by algorithms and logic.
